stake pockets

stake pockets
I'm in the process of building my box from scratch; I've noticed on some 48-50's that there is a mini stake pocket, mid point over the rear fender. Were these stock on all boxes ?

For $15 a piece I think it would be worth buying them instead of making your own. I would probably try to hammer out a set if I had something to use a pattern but I'm cheap.
One thing I noticed when I looked through the pictures I have is this gussets were only used on the '48 to mid '50 boxes with the raised sides. All of the late '50 to 52 pictures I have of the smooth sided boxes didn't have them. I never noticed that before.

Thanks once again guys; it would seem to make sense to install them , even though my bed will not be stock. The extra strenght can't be a bad thing.
