engine id

I was looking in a junk yard and I found an f600 school bus
with a ft in it i think,it has a sticker with 190 printed
on it,9425-k on the intake,it's huge.it has a 5speed,
what size 477,330,391,361,or 534,330?

If it's a 600 Series the standard engine was a 330 with the 361 optional. Don't know what the 190 means.

Dorybbp, if the engine is an FT it should look a whole lot like your 390. The intake and exhaust manifolds will be differant however. If the tranny behind the engine is a Clark 280 series, it would be great in your F250. You need the bell housing and flywheel and clutch from the FT as well. Can you give us some more numbers ? All Ford intakes have 9425 on them......DF

looks like oil bath type air filter,the above
poster says a 330 which would explain the 190 on the
air filter.looks big for so little cubic inches.
I also found an old 390 with no pcv valves, or egr
in a mercury montclair, 4bbl,major smog wagon,could
I swap that engine into my truck?cant see any more
numbers on the engine

Oh, the 190 is on the air filter. You're right that's the gross hp. I'm used to seeing 330 on the later years.

The 390 should be no problem, what year is that Montclair?

the montclair is pre 68 i think...its got that boxy
look,grill&front end design is alot like a 66 continental,
no smog n clog equipment, do both the truck
and car engine use the same mount configuration?and
what can i do to inspect a trans to see if it is good?
dont wanna bust my back jimmying that 5 speed out
cause its huge, and i have to pull it where its parked,
the car at best guess is a 65, thanks for the info!
the 390 2bbl is finaly starting to feel the pain caused
by my right foot,
