a family made the finals with a 400 last year...guy's wife and kids- ie minors- were tuning etc....and it wasn't the best parameters for a 400 rule wise.
google for jegs engine masters comp...you can review all of the past comps.
Yeah John kasse could probably make a 2.9v-6 oput of a ranger win that EMC, its going a very good competition. And yes i'd be more worried about the other 400s in the comp.

Well the numbers are in and Kaase came in 2nd with McKeown coming in 6th. Not too bad for a boat anchor that many guys pull out and replace with a 460, huh guys? SAM did well with their 351C. I'm glad they ran a C and not a Weezer....there was a 351W (Performance Unlimited) in the comp but it didn't make the numbers that the CHI headed 351C made. I found that interesting from the stand point that so many guys post on other forums how much better it is to build a 351W and how much better the new Weezer heads are over the old C. I guess this helps put things into perspective. No matter how good the new wedge heads are, the canted valve C head is extremely hard to beat.

kaase made a big jump in points from qualifying to finals...i was really pulling for him. I now understand the advantage of running last...he may have left a little on the the table tune-wise. If he new how close it was going to be he might have been more aggressive. But second is great! Bet that motor would look good in my truck...wonder what he going to do with that one? hmmmm....
It shows all those "boat anchor naysayers" that it doesn't matter what your deck height is, 400 inches is a winning combination, whether its in a DD or built for high HP.
