jeeesh....it is the 'M' block... it's one of those fine details that only us **** 400 gear heads worry about....plus it is from about the sorriest mag in publication...but it's a great thing to have happen to the 400.

Yep we're a little **** about the name
You're spot on with PHR. I've subcribed to CC for 25 years and was stealing it out of my schools library since 1979. I find CC and HR to both be less GM bias than PHR....I think that is why I like seeing Ford motors dominate the EMC. If you look back over the history of the EMC, Ford has a much higher average finish than any other brand....not to mention all the wins in the Ford column.
They should have called it just the Ford 400. Not only is it accurate, but all the bowtie guys wouldn't have a clue what it is without the 'M' at the end! LOL
I don't like any of those mags; I buy 'Ford Only' mags like Mustangs and Fast Fords, and formuscle.com web magazine.
I can't stand seeing the typical chebbie stuff mixed in with good Ford content.
i enjoy and respect all U.S. muscle...not so much mopar... but it's still red white and blue. But, I take major satisfaction in seeing old ford make waves...especially the 400.
all the newer stuff is well outside what i enjoy...oval or not...this is old muscle car competition per cubes and the 400 appears to have gathered much interest. I LIKE that Alot
I also like the cc mag most.

The best Ford mag around was the old Super Ford but Primedia bought it out and closed it down. Now, your only Primedia choices are all Mustang related. Mustangs & Fords is the closest thing to the old Super Ford that they publish but if you watch, many of the articles are the same ones you see in the Mustang mags. Legendary Fords is a good bi-monthly "Glossy" mag for those who like the read about cars but they are thin of "how to". I too like Ford Muscle and have been a subcriber since they started.....however, I recently let my sub slip but I'm going to renew it soon. The good thing is you actually see Ford Muscle getting mentioned in Primedia mags. If you look at Primedias offerings you can't tell me they aren't GM biased....come-on, 2 Vette mags and what's the difference between Super Chevy and Chevy High Performance? How many ways can you build a 350 powered Camaro???? HR, CC, and PHR publish more articles about GM, specifically Chevy, stuff than any other brand. CC has really made an effort to do articles on AMC, Mopar, and the BOP-C motors which is great, it gives us all something different to read. But, the 4 Ford mags truely only cater to the Mustang crowd... and how many different ways can you build a 5.0 Mustang??? Granted, that is the biggest customer base in the FoMoCo camp BUT you can't generate interest unless you introduce people to the different cars in the FoMoCo stable. Mustangs & Fords do show some of the lesser know models so there is some exposure. I flip through all of these at the newstand and I only buy them if I find an article that interest me....so yes I sometimes buy one of the Chevy mags.

Like him or not, Jon Kaase knows what he is doing, and if he picked the 400, then he'll build it win. There is no second place with the 400.
A couple years ago the EMC had a shoot out with 410ci as the max displacement. Kaase floated the idea of using a 400 then but the rules stated no intake manifold spacers. Well, now CHI makes a 400 specific intake for their heads and guess what, Kaase is building a 400. That to me means he has faith in the potential of the motor.
