I'm sure this has been hashed over before. any way I installed a '60 350 HP thunderbird 352 in my 65 F100/3 speed. Freshly re-done motor,I trust the guy who did it. timing is 11 deg.BTDC . 600cfm vacum secondary holly out of the box. What happens is a stumble/hesitation off idle, and it will backfire if I step on it.If I ease into the throttle it really screams This didn't happen with the 180 thousand mile origonal 352. do I just need to change the accelerator pump squirter? do I need a 50cc accel. pump? a jet change? Thanks.
Matt,
I am no carb expert but I would suggest the stumble may be related to Acc pump adjustment.
You want to make sure the pump arm (located below the front bowl) starts to move as soon as the throttle moves off of idle. No delay. There is an adjustment screw on the linkage. CAUTION. Do not adjust this to far in so that the linkage drives the pump to far in. It will tear.
The other thing to check is the squirter size. Most have a number stamped on them. You may need to reduce the size of the squirter. This will make for a longer duration squirt.
