Intake Manifold and 4 Barrel Suggestions Needed for a 352
My '65 F250 has a 352 / 2bbl. I need to replace the intake manifold gaskets and figured since I was going to put a 4bbl on it, I might was well do it now.
I was thinking of an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and a Holley 600 CFM 4bbl with an electric choke.
Thoughts, experience, suggestions?
Also, suggestions on how to jet it for a stock 352 are welcomed.

Thats pretty much going to be your winning combo.
You could try an edelbrock 500, but it won't be to much different. Some people prefer the smallest carb possable. Me I like 1 size bigger to aid in hwy cruising.
If you wanna try an Edelbrock I would use the thunder AVS type. Its a big improvement for the average guy to tune.
I perfer to buy a used carb, have it rebuilt, and tuned by prefessionals like these guy.
Performance Carburetors - Custom Holley Carb Specialists
It usually works out to be a bit cheaper, and the reliability is up from a tuning stand point.

Slick 60's :: View topic - Edelbrock carb install on 352???
The Edelbrocks are very street friendly and easy to tune. I threw a 600CFM Edelbrock Performer carb on my 352. You can get decent performance from a factory Ford 4v intake with tall ports. The stock intakes are heavy and you could save weight by going aftermarket if that is important to you. There seems to be some debate on whether the Edelbrock FE intake is worth the money. Talk to these guys is you want more performance: 332-428 Ford FE Engine Forum
Good luck!

Those are good choices.
Like said above there is some debate wether the Edelbrock manifold is better, but it is easier to install since it is alot lighter.

Hey guys this is a subject near and dear to my heart. I'm on the way to putting a"58" 352 PI in my "64" and I'm tempted to use the stock autolite. I think I'll use the aluminum intake for all the reasons stated as well as some added performance. Got to be better than the technology of "58" don't you think? Let me know your thoughts. Russ

I'm so freaking jealous of how good that engine bay looks. Mine will get there but it will be a while.
I think I want to go with aluminum because I've heard the stock cast iron intakes are heavy and difficult to install. Afterall, I'm pulling the intake to get rid of a leak as it is.
But, if I find a factory 4bbl intake, what should I expect to pay for it?
Holley has refurbished 600cfm carbs for $199. They say on their web site that they are returns that are due mainly to customers returning them for lack of know how to properly adjust them. The go through the entire carb. Since they aren't really "used" and just returns, I feel the $100 savings would be worth it.

I may be going the Edelbrock intak/carb route? One question I had-the High Perf. machine shop that redid my stock heads
(amazing shop) told me that the new aluminum heads should be faced by a shop prior to install as they are rarely true?
What do you guys think on that? Do they ever check intakes for the same?

I am in Texas and I have a ford 4V intake for the 352, will sell cheap but the shipping cost could be prohibited depending on where you live.

I am getting ready to go to aluminum myself and already have a cast 4v with a Holley 600 manual choke. It runs great but I picked up the aluminum for a great price at a local auto swap meet. I also picked up a new Holley from Jegs on sale just need to finsh the heads.
I am in CA and will have a cast 4 barrel just hanging around.

I paid $50.00 for my factory 4v intake. I'm not a Holley hater by any means, but the Edelbrock carb is definately the most user friendly carb I have ever installed. I literally bolted it on and fired her up. It was that easy. Threw it on the emissions sniffer and it's right in range. Holleys are better when it comes to big cams.
