[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-May-02 AT 01:07 AM (EST)]I voted for other because once I find one I'm going to put on a 3 duce setup. You know the ones with the 3 two bbl carbs.
I voted for a single 4 barrel with an aftermarket intake....cause I think that is probably whats best for truck usage, but........Ford made some really neat stuff for the FE engine in the 'total performance' years. Ford made an aluminum 'police interceptor' dual plane four barrel intake that is wonderful, the iron 428CJ intake is the same casting, just 50 lbs heavier....Ford also made a dual (equal) plane intake from aluminum called a 'sidewinder'. It came on some 427 galaxies. I have an aluminum dual plane, dual 4 barrel intake (C7ZX) sitting here at home that I would love to try out. It was a dealer installled option I think, and could also be had over the counter from the muscle parts program. It is a Ford manifold and was used on some 427s in 67&68 and was available for 428CJs as well. Fits two holley 600s on it, might be a tough time finding the correct throtttle linkage however.... DF
I voted for "other." I think your induction setup depends entirely on the vehicle, how you intend to use it, and what cam you go with. For many people, a factory 2 or 4v iron intake manifold is fine, with a carb to match. For others, an aftermarket intake and single or multiple performance carbs are necessary.
Personally, the 428 I'm building has an aftermarket dual plane intake and a single 4 bbl carb. I'd love to build a 427-powered Cobra replica someday, though, and might go with something a little more exotic. One of those sidewinder or dual quad intakes with twin Demon carbs would be killer, especially sitting on top of a new Genesis aluminum side-oiler block with Edelbrock heads. Then again, I saw an article just the other day about a guy with an EFI-equipped 427 in his Superformance Cobra. He's cranking out 500+ horsepower on 87 octane pump gas!
I voted for other. The factory "S" manifod is a good one for street use and I recommend a small 4 BBL. There are several good ones but the "S" one is a great value.
Thanks for the info guys. I got a question. The 2 screws on the uderside of the carb are for adjusting the air fuel mixture right? Can you turn these things when the truck is on. I am pretty sure i have the 2100 but not sure.
