I am thinking of installing a by-pass oil filter. I suppose we all have seem the ads for the Filtration Solutions Worldwide FS-2500. I am just curious to know from somebody using it what they think of it. Basically is it worth the $800 price tag?
I'm running the Oil Guard ESP-20 (cost $269 with everything to install it) and am very happy with it and my oil analysis results. I think $800 is over priced. Some on here run the Franz (spl) filter system and like it.
Thanks. With the oil powered injectors it seems to me that the oil gets beat up a lot faster than on some other model engines. I actually haven't heard of the two that you mentioned. Let the research begin I guess. What are your oil change intervals with the by-pass filter. The brand I mentioned is claiming 20,000
With my oil analysis from Blackstone, I'm changing every 10K. I could go longer but....I just don't want to, like you said the injectors shear our oil pretty good. Here's a link to the Oil Guard site: http://www.oilguard.com/Ford7.php (their a site sponsor)
I tried a 10k interval with my Frantz filter and rotella 5w40 sythetic and came back with a poor oil analysis. So I have gone back to rotella 15w40 and 5k oil changes still running the Frantz. The FS is probably a good filter but not worth $800. the Frantz, Oil Guard and Motor Guard all seem to be good filters that are well priced. The Motor Guard and Frantz have been around for decades and use Toliet paper as the filter media.
