Question Lift, Best method

1992 F-250 4x4 351 5-speed. Bought this truck from my work paid $300 for it just got it going. Planning on using it for a farm/hunting truck. It needs a couple of more inches under it. I was thinking just 3, what would be the easiest and cheapest way to go with the way ford has there front axles set up. I was thinking just blocks under the leafs, or add-a-leafs. If i do any of these two do i need a drop bracket for the front axle to make sure the front tires are't toed in.

get a Dana 60 front, that will lift it 2" then do a shackle reversal with superduty springs. that will net you about 4-5"! plus then you will get the easier/cheaper axle to lift and maintain and the strength of the one ton front!

Come on cutts. Sounds like he asked for easiest and cheapest....

By all means, that is the right way to do it, but not many of us can.

You could try throwing some add a leafs up front and do a shackle flip in the rear, and you should be good with a extra 2-3" lift, and if that doesn't work, cut the fenders.
The truck only cost you $300, no use to dump a lot in a lift kit.

They do make brackets for the TTB front end to be adjusted so the toe corrected, but you might not really need it, and just do an alignment.

whats up with the superduty springs?
what advantages are to them?

3" body lift?
he did say cheapest and easiest, and it will only be used for farming/hunting....

i had a body lift on my f150 and never had a problem with it...i replaced the body mounts with poly ones while i did the lift...but im taking it off when i remove the cab when i box the frame...

Thanks guys, i will agree with the two that say the cheapest. I don't need an axle swap or anything on this truck, one i don't think the wife will approve and neither will my banker. I am thinking the add-a-leafs and the shackle flip. Any suggestions on the best add-a-leaf kit for the money.

Thanks Chris

BODY LIFT MIGHT BE THE BEST (MONEY WISE). EASY TO CLEAN UNDER THE BODY SO IT DON'T RUST OUT AS FAST. YOU CAN GET 33" TIRES AND STILL HAVE FACTORY RIDE AND STILL USE FACTORY SHOCKS. OTHER IS SUSPENSION LIFT AND THIS DEPENDS ON WHAT SIZE TIRES YOU WANT TO USE. WWW.ROCKYMOUNTAINSUSP.COM HAS CHEAP LIFTS THAT CAN TAKE A BEATING. I BOG AND HAUL FIRE WOOD WITH A 3" BODY AND 4" SUSPENSION WITH 35" ON MY POWERWAGON.

I'd rather put on add a leafs and do a shackle flip any day, over installing a body lift. The body lift would actually be more work and cost a little more than add a leafs and new bolts for the shackle flip.

I agree, a body lift would be cheapest in the long run. If you start messing with the suspension height you would have things like shocks and drop brackets come in to play. IIRC I paid $80 for my body lift shipped to me for my 96 ranger and $150 installed but that was 8 or so years ago.

I looked at a body lift for a 92 F250 like his truck from rough country for $120.
I've seen add a leafs for $80-100.
For only 2.5" lift, I'm not sure if you'd need drop brackets( I wouldn't put them). And I guarentee you the shocks need to be replaced no mater what, so basically the add a leafs would be cheaper.

As for the body lift, makeing your truck look ugly, cutting and welding in linkages, and haveing to get rid of your fan shroud, just to name a few....just doesn't sound like a good way to go(to me...).

yeah 10-4, if he wasn't driving it on the road i wouldn't worry about the drop brackets either....
i didn't have to get rid of my fanshroud, but dont matter to me...

What do you need the couple of extra inches for? Like said, trimming your fenders to prevent rubbing with bigger meats would be the cheapest way by far, and can be made to look very decent. If this truck is like most of them, it has some cancer around the wheel wells anyway.
