I did get new horns and they work beautifully and loud. Got them from NAPA and I had to modify the connections but that was ok. My trouble is that my horn sticks now. I plugged it in and it just stayed blowing away. Pissed my neighbors off. I unplugged them after I pressed the horn pad a few times. It would stop then start blowing on it's own again. I removed the airbag and found the electrical pad of the horn. It seemd to still work when I touched it but it was rather sensitive. I put it back together and the horn would work for a while but still get stuck blowing endlessly. I had to disconnect the horn. Is that Electronic pad bad?
If you find any solution to this let me know. I am suffering from the same issue. Unfortunately, the dealership (and no junkyards that I could find) will sell just the horn pad switch. Instead, you have to buy the entire airbag assembly.
I really didn't feel like buying a $300 airbag just to get my horn working so I disconnected it. Then I got around to getting creative with some scissors, electrical tape and foam to fix the horn pad switch so that it doesn't accidentally touch and set the horn off.
Now its REALLY hard to blow the horn... gotta slam on it. But hey, it beats buying a new airbag.
Helfman ford in Houston said they have one for $95. I will tgry to go there today. That dam horn is just stuck. I have to believe it is that pad. No one else seems to want to klnow on this forum or maybe theyu never had the problem. I went to look at all horn threads and there was nothing so maybe this is new.
