92 E-150 Gear Selector (indicator problem)

Hi
I have 92 e-150 with 5.0 motor auto tranny...the indictaor for my gears doesnt move at all it is stuck in 1 position ...do you need to take the cluster out ..whats the procedure to fix the problem ..figured i asked before i take everyting apart

any help appreciated

Could just be the cable has come off- pull the pastic under dash trim and look up on the rh side of the coulmn, you shoukd see a white cable - it loops around the little arm that moves from P to R, N D etc..
