Hey all, I've got a 97 F-350 with the 460. I bought a Superchips tuner for it but cant find the diagnostic connector. Where is this thing?? All I can find under the hood is the eec test plug? Under the dash, nothing. What gives?
You will not have one under the dash, the EEC test connector under the hood is all you have.
I think you are looking for the covered up test plug on the back end of the PCM computer.
Just pull out the PCM computer and plug it into the back end of it (after you remove the screw and plate).
Then put the PCM computer back in if it will fit with that thing on the back of it.
Send the Chip back for a refund.. it's a waste of money with the EEC-IV system. Get a timing light and advance the base timing a couple degrees, then drive the vehicle up some hills at hwy speeds and put a sustained load on the motor(lugging at low rpms, not reving). If there is any audible pinging upgrade to the next grade of fuel or retard the timing a degree, and repeat. This and some auto tranny recalibration is all the tuner chip would have done.
i assume he's looking for the OBD 2 port, just like i was on my truck. been discussed a few times that OBD2 is 96/97 & up cars and *LIGHT* trucks. 250s & 350s are not light.
