Ball Joints

I have an 03 with 70K on it and was told at NTB that I need new ball joints. My BFG ATs are getting trashed and you can see a lean to the left front tire. They showed me the play but I am not sure how much is OK.

Has anyone else had to replace these at 70K and how much is reasonable for cost?

thanks

my truck in 170 000 km's went through 3 sets of ball joints, since it was out of warranty at the last time i put moog ball joints in. cost to get it done in a shop around here is about $1000+ so i don't know how much you'll be gettin charged for it though. If there is a visible lean you need to replace them because that is definately not ok, my truck had very slight play using a bar so i swapped them out

Normal to replace the factory ball joints between 50-100K miles. Do as rollerstud98 said and replace them with the Moog greaseable units.

I don't know what labor will cost you as i always change my own. But the Moog ball joints are about $275 for a set of 4

I know mine's 2wd but I got all 4 ball joints shipped to the house for $106--moog's. I got mine from www.ryderfleetproducts.com You can get a big extreme in prices on these if you don't shop carefully. Advance was twice the money.

Tim the 4WD ball joints are more expensive than the 2WD ball joints. 4WD uppers are about 40% more and the lowers are twice the price.

Ryder Fleet products does have good prices however for Moog ball joints.

SD 2WD:
Upper Ball Joint - K80028 $23.96 each
Lower Ball Joint - K80027 $24.23 each
Shipping $11.95

SD 4WD:
Upper Ball Joint - K80026 $33.30 each
Lower Ball Joint - K8067T $50.99 each
Shipping $11.95
