If you want to do it quicker you can disconect the battery and then turn on the headlight switch for two minutes then shut it off. This will drain all the capacitors and reset the codes. Then reconnect the battery.
Of course waiting 15 minutes will do it also for sure.

No. If you read a manual it always says to remove the neg. cable, because removing the pos. could damage some of your electronics when reconnecting it.
ok, i've done everything....new tps egr with sensor and iac, and the damn truck still has the check engine light on and idles at 2000rpms....i dont get it. i get codes 63 and 31....i give up
31 - PFE or EVP circuit below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts.
63 - TPS circuit below minimum 0.6 volts.
Did you replace the EGR valve or the EVP sensor? Sounds like EVP is your problem for the 31 code. As for the TPS code, not really sure if you have already tried replacing the TPS.
The headlight switch is meant to discharge any capacitors in the computer, but your guess is as good as mine as to whether or not it works. If you don't need the computer to re-learn everything, you can simply run the normal diagnostic check (pulling the codes) except when the codes are still flashing, pull the jumper wire that is grounding the STI. This erases the trouble codes but will not reset all of the computer's learned parameters.
