clearing computer codes

I have just one code (33) on my 92 Ford. I have been trying to clear a code after a repair with no success. I try to clear it with engine off and procedure with my $30 code reader. (Wait until code transmits and switch from test to hold)
I have also tried by taking battery power away for 15 min to clear continous codes. Any surefire way of clearing it other than 40-80 cycles?

not reliably , the way shops do it is to sit in the car and turn the key the correct no. of times , its my understanding that the car doesnt have to start , just be powered up thru the ignition, there are others here with more expereince that may know another way, bob
