Got the bellowed up pipes from bwd and installed them this afternoon. I really don't notice any difference in performance(still feels very slow) and hear the same little ticking noise. I checked the manifolds as good as i could and didn't see any noticable leaks. any suggestions? also added a 10k mod which gave a little extra hp
I going to start the cleaning process of the tube but didn't have any wrenches small enough. Plus don't have any weedeater cable. I might try replacing drivers side manifold gasket. I saw a little soot at the edge of the manifold.

That little bit of soot is the tell-tale sign of a leak. It will also produce a ticking sound under load.

You mean install one? IIRC the factory ships those without a gasket. Might check the bolts and be careful not to break one.
with all this up-pipe changing. do the manafolds need changing or will they last for a while?
They are cast iron. The same crap we used to replace immediately with headers on the older engines. But wait, there is a note, it seems there is little to be had replacing our stock logs with headers and therefore they can just remain there. If there were big gains to be had, there would be a big market. There is not. BTW, all this up-pipe changing does not hurt the manifold unless you break them loose. Then a manifold gasket is needed.
thanks tenn, I bought a set of manifold gaskets thinking i needed them, but first I just pulled the drivers side fender wall plastic out. tightened the 3 rear bolts and I was amazed, they were loose! I gave 1 bolt a least a couple turns. I also cleaned my backpressure valve & tube. Not sure which one gave me the fix, but this now feels like I have a 80 hp chip! Its night and day difference in performance. now i'll have to see if my mileage goes back up...
Are the Ceramic Up-Pipes worth the extra 150 bones? I'm going to be installing a BTS transmission in a month and trying to do some preventative measures. Anything else I should do while the tranny is out?
