DVD burner question

I purchased a DVD burner and noticed that the minimum requirement for the processor is a P4 1.3 GHz.

My computer has only a P3 1.1GHz chip.

Will this DVD burner work, or should I return it?

Thanks.

The P3 was a good cpu. If you have not opened the box, I would rethink replacing your system that will come with a DVD burner. I have seen a Compaq laptop with a dual core (in store purchase only from office depot) for around $375. It has only been advertised twice that I know of though.

maybe, if not take it back and get yourself an external hard drive, then you at least have the option of burning your file to cd on another pc.

I did open the box. Their return policy, on this particular burner, is a bit iffy.

I forgot to mention that this unit is an external DVD burner. Sorry.

My intention was to use it on both my Dell PC and Sony Vaio laptop.
The Sony's CD drive some how separated itself from the laptop.
The Sony's processor is also a P3, but it's slower @ 890 MHz.

I guess I'll keep it, and go from there.

Thanks for the replies.

Looks like a nice unit & for two computers it makes good sense. Liteon is a good company too.

I "might" buy a USB 2.0 PCI card for the Dell, just to optimize the Burner.

Also maybe a cardbus adapter for the Sony Laptop; unless someone makes a USB to Firewire adapter.
