I have a D60 sitting in the garage that needs to be rebuilt. The carrier is junk, the bolt that holds the pin in broke and the pin slid out and egged out the carrier housing. I was thinking of rebuilding and selling it to make some money. It has 3.73 gears and is an open rear, not sure of the spline count as I have not torn it down that far yet. I thought that sense it needs a carrier that I might put a posi in w/4.10's. I'm just looking for some opinions if it would be worth it or should I just through some cheap gears and carrier in and sell it?
I dont think that you will be money ahead. Reason is that you might build it a certain way and for the person that is looking for it in that specific configuration might take a long time. So you could be sitting on it a while. And also youll have a bunch of money in new parts that youll never be able to get your money back out of. BTW, what year of D60 is it?
It is from a mid 80's f-250. And yes it has 16 spline axles, 3.73 gears and is an open carrier. I know that people don't like the 16 spline axles, but I have never seen one break in the twenty years I've been around farming, and we have given some ruff abuse to them.
