trailer wiring

trailer wiring

went to hook up a 10K lbs trailer to haul a skidsteer and the ground is not found on the factory wiring on the truck hitch. Am I missing something?

Ground is the WHITE wire. If you dont have one just run a wire to a good bolt on the truck side and the same with the trailer side...

No, you should not have to run wires.

But maybe yours is damaged and Jeff gave you a place to start.

My connector assy under my rear bumber got damaged from driving/backing over things ... and certain wires would not work.

What kind of SD do you have? (year, model, config, etc.)

If it is still under warranty...then just go get it taken care of at the dealer.

Look on the wiring plug cover, it should show a pin diagram and one of the botton pins should be ground. Then check that pin with a test light or ohmmeter to see if its working.
