Question Oil Capacity

Hello. I have a 1984 F-150, 351W, C6, NP208, 9" and Dana 44 TTB. I recently pulled the engine to replace gaskets and seal, I also installed an Edelbrock intake and new water pump. Anyway, when I installed the motor instead of holding 6 qts. like it used to it is now full at 5 qts. I know the dipstick didn't move so I haven't a clue what happened. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If you changed the oil and filter and haven't run it yet, the new filter is not full of oil.

I changed both and I have run over 100 miles. Level didn't go down.

No. Same oil pan. It held 6 qts. before we removed the engine. Now it doesn't, but nothing has changed. Oil pressure is fine.

This is a big debate with me. My 351w holds 5 quarts with the filter change. Everyone else's seems to hold 6 quarts?

I had dipstick issues, and when I set it up for 6 quarts, it leaks out the rear of the engine around the rear main seal. If I run 5 quarts, everything is fine, and I have been running it like this for 7 years now.

Interesting. The owners manual says six quarts. Oh well I guess I'll run five in it everything seems fine.
