I once tried putting my spare on a friends f-250 superduty when he ruined two tires. The wheel off my '97 would not fit onto the studs on the superduty. They would almost go. The studs were spaced just wide enough to keep the '97 wheel from going on.
Neal if you don't get a chance I will try it tomorrow. My dad should have a SD wheel around and I have a spare rear end that I will try to fit. I am quite certain it won't if it did there are plenty of guys who would have already done it. The only way to make it work would be wheel spacers that convert to the 170mm spacing. they make them but by the time you buy spacers and wheel you could have bought a nice set of aftermarket wheels. Unless you get the SD wheel free it just wouldn't be worth it.
I wonder if dodge still uses old standard,I know they were from 05. I'mnot sure I might still have 1 box. But,I don't know how to download pics, kinda computer illiterate.Maybe nbs works on old but not vice/verse ?????
No need to feel like an idiot! I have never actually tried the swap. Its always good to know for sure! There are plenty of other things that aren't worth talking about and this is not one of them!
As for dodge, I think Ford is the only big three that doesn't still use the 8x6.5 spacing. I think chevy and dodge still do even though they may use metric wheel studs. the Center holes of the wheel may be different but I think the stud spacing is the same.
