Hey all,
I have a '96 F250 Ext and I just installed a used Lund visor, attached all the original screws, and evrything looks good, and seems secure, however, at highway speeds, the middle of the unit vibrates quite a bit. Is there anyhting I can do, or is this the nature of the beast? Thanks everyone!
Chris
Or use panel adhesive comes in tubes. Do some thing quick if you drive on highway . I had 2 rip right out myself . Last truck I had with one I glued on with the panel ad. Lasted 3 yrs. Held great till I removed it to get MPG back.
I love the looks but they are not worth it to me. I drive to many miles and any thing helps
guys-lostin90s, what do you mean by adding glue? I don't understand how that will improve the flexing...I was thinking of adding a 6"-9" piece of flat steel to the underside, possibly epoxying it in place. Thanks again
Hey there Chris, I've got the same issues with my 94 F250. Be careful of glueing it on, it make the visor more or less permanent, & if you need to replace a winshield, the visor may cause much grief if unremovable. I also am going to try a metal brace inside the visor but mine is lighted so the lamp housing protrude back into where the brace would work best. Cheers Rick

its flexing and vibrating cause it not secured in the middle, so if u add adhesive to the middle it will hold it still, thus no vibration
You can pop the glue loose if you are careful and have to ,and my glass guys can put windshield in with it on. My local shops all use this or doulbe tape on install .
You cannot access under side as its double walled.
Chutter this glue will Hold fine they use it on body panels . Its the roof that fails (screw rip out) Not the visor. The glue spreads stress out to larger area. Any thing to help hold in place to prevent this and the extra cost . On one truck was so bad I had holes welded shut and redrilled. Just a cost prevention thing.
It's good to know that a windshield can still go in with the visor in place. Does anyone have a name brand in mind for this panel glue?. I would like to try it out. Is overnight long enough to wait before driving or is it better to leave it set up a few days.Cheers Rick
