driver side lighted sunvisor
driver side lighted sunvisor
I have the lighted visor on the passenger side.Did they make one for the drivers side?
I bought a set out of a 1977 lincoln markvll the other day with both visors lighted. The visors are a little shorter (3 to 4 inches) so they would need individual brackets to mount. Did ford make early model cars or trucks with separate brackets ?
Also the visor corner mounts are smaller.I am going to see if I can swap them with my stock truck visors. All input would be welcome.
Thanks,Kyle

And what is the deal with them going for those prices? I mean, I can find something a whole lot better than lighted sunvisors to spend my money on. I don't need to see my ugly mug that bad.

x2...the only reason I was considering getting a set was for my girlfriend to put on the finishing touches. I decided against getting them, and I think I'm going to invest in one of those rear view mirrors from JBG that has lights, compass and temp. Those are only $295 and serve the same purpose. Maybe I'll just get the girlfriend a handheld mirror and a flashlight.

. I'm sure she'd appreciate that too. Don't get me wrong. I would like to have a set for my truck also just to have them, but for the money....WOW. And yes, I do like those rearview mirrors. They would serve more of a purpose. I even thought about getting that setup from LMC, but don't know if it'd be too much or not.http://www.lmctruck.com/ICATALOG/FC/full.aspx?Page=87
If I can figure out how to get the retaining spring off of the visors ,I would just have to swap the truck bracket on to the car bracket. The rods are one length,
and so far I have not been able to extract them without doing damage to the visor.
The mirror units are the entire visor with the material sewn around the plastic unit.

Post a picture of your visor and I'll see if I still have a picture of one of the OE visors that were used in the 78-79's.
I believe the first year for the visor in the trucks/Bronco's was 78. The driver side is made of thick padding for the Ford truck or Bronco, no mirror. If you have seen a set that both are mirror/light up they would be from a Lincoln and are a different style such as what the OP has run into. Their never was a driver mirror/light up visor for the 79-earlier models. 80-up I have no clue and would also suspect they would not interchange with the 79-earlier.
You are correct ranger429.The one visor I have for my passenger side is the factory truck visor. Instead of padding, the whole mirror and casing are the filler for the entire visor. If you undo the screw in the visor by the rod it does pull out partially. The 4 screws that hold the mirror in give access to the fuse and the two wires to power the lights for the mirror. The housing is not removable without undoing the stitching.
I do not have a problem with the car visors not being original to the truck. They are about the same length as the visors in my83 truck. I'm thinking ,if I grind of the spring keeper on the rod... I could then swap the truck mount to the car visor.Putting something back to retain the spring tension is the dilemma.
The reference to the 83 truck is for proportion. These are going in my 79.
