Holy crap what a difference. I've read posts of owners who have installed MBRP systems and said their trucks sounded like jet engines. I thought that description might have been a little over the top. Well I was wrong. Not only does my truck sound like a jet engine, it sounds like a screaming jet engine!
I assume you went with a straight pipe system? From hearing the videos online of the different manufacturer's straight piped systems I can't really hear a difference. They all sound about the same as there really isn't much difference except maybe the location of the bends.
i just installed my MBRP system a few days ago. i have the cat delete, but i DO HAVE a muffler with it. at idle it does indeed sound like a plane idling on the tarmac !!

I have the MBRP with cat and muffler delete and yes I was like "Holy Crap" when I first fired mine up to. It sounds great thats for sure.
put a 6 inch tip on it makes a difference, i just put mine on and i love it then just put the 6 inch tip and surprised i could tell it made it project more
The cat delete is simply a 4" pipe that replace the cat. It helps performance in that its less restrictive. Removing the cat will make your truck much louder so it is possible you will get a ticket. ANd remember that the cat is there for a reason, you will fail an emissions test without it.
I have a 4" MBRP turbo back. What is the cat delete ? Does it help perfommance ? Any issues with fines ?
Cat delete is a pipe that allows you to remove your catalytic converter. It helps the exhaust gas pass through the pipes with less restriction and that helps to lower the exhaust gas temps. Only issue with fines is if you live someplace that does inspections on diesel engines.
my truck is not very loud at all, i do have a muffler, but it doesnt hurt performance at all. it is louder than before when it is WOT, but not unbearable by any means.
yes if you have diesel smog emissions in your state, they will check for the cat, and if it is not there, you will fail. a c-note usually keeps a prying eye away from under the truck however.
the main purpose of cat delete is lower egt's, not really much difference in performance that i can see, but man i have a hard time keeping EGT down now, it must have really been bad with the cat on !! ( i installed my egt gauge and exhaust same day so didnt notice egts before with the cat and the sct)

Hi John when you install the cat delete on you truck you will also need the MBRP down pipe To fit properly. Do you have annual inspections in your area?
you can always put the cat back in when you go for inspections.
Getting ready to install my new MBRP exaust tomorrow. Any tips? Its from the turbo back w/cat. delete. Whats the best way to remove it off the rubber hangars? I want to take it off where I can re-use it if need be....
