That is a pretty sweet ride! What is it have for power?

I found a place on the net that services just about every state. I searched for on locally, but no luck. Maybe the DMV investigator may have an idea of one nearby, but the one on the net is $150 for up tp $5000. Sounds like a deal to me.
Thanks for the help guys!

lol...

I was just thinking that I'd be a good guy here and tuck it away...ya know, incase ya lost it and needed the info later

Good luck with the build, I'm starting on the boxing plates for my frame...hey...if you need a pattern, let me know...I just cut out about 7 feet of 3/16th and will be fittng it in...this piece will start just behind the boxing plate for my front end (about where the original steering column was) and go to about 6-7 inches into the "hump" over the rear end...I wanted to do it all in one piece, but would have had to use a 14 or 16 inch pice of metal and have too much waste, so opted for 3/16th by 8inch...but it still get's me past the stress points in the frame.

If you look real close at my pics, you can see that the frame has all ready been boxed. You'll see the brake lines are fastened on the "box". The frame is one of the few things I remember helping my dad with when he first got the truck. I think i was 5 or 6 years old. I got to hold a lot of pieces while he tack them with the stick welder. You'll also notice in the axle pic that two of the hiem joint brackets are welded to the housing. I'll almost bet you never seen another either. My dad could weld anything, he was especially talented in welding cast iron. Its definitely one stout setup.

Cool deal, I just (this morning) was cutting out some welds my Dad did in the mid-60's on this...looks like he weldeded in some spring mounts with certanium rod...these were the mounts for the front of a parallel leaf setup ( form a '55 chevy car) that were/are some sort of casted material, I spent 2 hours grindng them suckers out, my torch only made bubbles...my guess was he pre heated the castings, then stuck the stick welder to it...my other guess is my dad and yours probably had the same type of talent, hell, my pops could make his stick welds look better than my mig welds...sure do miss the "advice" I used to get.

PS...I held a LOT of metal as well back in the day as my Dad tacked things up...I remember one of his favorite sayings as the sparks were splatternig on me..."Naw, it doesn't hurt Mike, you'll be fine"...

Lol, I sure miss them days

Do you know when the Truck was approximatly licenced last, or on the road in use. That old truck may have been a 1 owner and still registered to the original owner.
I recently bought a 46 1/2 ton from Iowa that was in that category, but there was a Title with the Truck, but the original owner had passed quite a few years prior.
If you got a bill of sale with the truck, would that not help you in obtaining a Title?
As I can recall that a Title is proof of ownership, and usually back in those years vehicles were paid for in 1 payment, as they were hard to come by, with the comming of WW11.
I really don't know to much about the laws on the registration part, so I really shouldn't be giving an opinion. I just thought it might be of some help, getting you on the track for a Title.

Best guess is it was last registered back in the 50s-60s. As said before, it was abandoned on some land my uncle bought, so no bill of sale.

I sent the bonded title application in last week, but not really sure how long before someone contacts me. I'll get everyone posted.
