I'm posting this here, as well as on the forum that actually covers the 41 COE I just sold the cab and parts for. I now have the frame and title left over and another buyer seriously wants it. I have no idea of the value though, and need help in appropriately setting that figure. Any help would be most appreciated. I know there are title outfits, but are those titles real ones? Anyway .... thanks in advance.

If you are selling the title with the frame, I'd say it's worth $100.00 - $150.00 tops. I take $20.00 to get rid of it or simply give it away but that's just me.
Bottom Line - It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
The title is only valuable to someone who has an untiltled 41 COE or wants to build one.
The major difference between your title and one from a title supplier is there is a legally stamped frame to go with it. I'd say texan is in the right ballpark if he wants it for parts, unless your buyer actually does have a 41 COE and lives in a state that would not register a restamped frame, then it could be worth more to him. Why not ask him to make an offer?
I bought a truck with no title here in Texas (my 50 F1). I was able to get a title but it cost probably $150.00 before all was said and done. This included having to pay around $115.00 for a 3-year surety bond. I also had to get two appraisals. This was quite easy. I took some pictures and the VIN plate to the used car section of a dealer I use here locally and they gave me an appraisal sheet saying the truck was worth $100.00 (which was probably a high estimate given the condition of the truck)
I did not use a title company. I tried to but after a month or so, they hadn't done anything so I did it myself. Wasn't that bad.
Since you are in CA and with all the legal problems Coddington got into with using title companies, I'd suggest calling the state DMV (the headquarters in the capital, not the local office) and find out what the legal procedure is is to retitle a vehicle with a lost title. That is assuming the vehicle in question still has it's original VIN number attached.
Aother option if the CA system isn't palatable would be to "sell" the vehicle to a buddy in a state with a more "friendly" DMV, let him title it there, and then "sell" it back to you with it's good title. It's a dirty little secret that it's done in the wholesale used car market that way to "launder" used cars to remove salvage titles.
I have a clean CA title for a '49 F1 truck that I've been trying to "get rid off". It comes with a VIN plate for the firewall and VIN Data plate for the glovebox. I've been asking $150.
Frames are generally worthless to most people and they are a pain to scrap. If you have a chance to sell the frame and title for $150, then DO IT!!!
BTW, Oregon is one of the states that allows title "washing".
