is 302 an interference engine?

probably been asked before,
but does the 302 run an interference system. meaning, do the valves come far enough down into the combustion chamber that they overlap where the piston raises to before detonation (meaning they could be bent/shattered by the piston in the event of a timing chain failure)?

what year is your engine, stock or modified, on my 86 gt i cant really mess with the heads to much w/o notching the pistons for valve reliefs b/c of the flattops I think your safe with one of the newer engines 88-95

Stock, it may live, if you have larger valves or more cam lift, it will hit for sure.
