This is really a question Joe the C00nHunter: I have been reviewing the threads, all 17 pages and after I saved your artical on the hows & why's of modifying the valve body I ran across an installation thread on the BTS valve body which appears to be expensive.
Three (3) questions:
Is the BTS valve body simular to your modifications?
Why is there a flat plate included with the BTS valve? The stock valve body doesn't have this does it?
And, when the valve body is dropped from the tranny is it full of little springs and ball bearings? What's inside other than oil?
When you drop the valve body be ready cause yes there are ***** and two or three springs that will fall or you may spill them everywhere too. There is an experience behind this warning but just know that they are there and be ready for them. LOL

Thanks Casey, I supose that I will probably need a map of sorts to get everything back where it belongs. Do you know where I might find a picture of where all of these little guys belong?? The Chilton manual I have should be hanging in an outhouse.
Thanks again.
Roger
You know what it just so happens that I do, but it nots loaded on my computer yet. I have a print out of the exact locations a guy gave me from Flourida I think. If it turns out that you need mine I can get it faxed to you but that is about the only way. I dont have a scanner unless maybe I can take a picture of it and see if it is legiable. I'll see if I cant do that for ya tomarrow unless someone else beats me to it.
Joe's VB mod and other A/M VB mods are NOT the same. A/M VB's can be reversed where Joe's mod cannot be without replacing the VB. Joe's mod works just as good as an A/M VB, for an 1/8 the cost of one. Its all in what you choose. Maybe you can get lucky and get a spare VB from a junkyard and ship it to Joe and have him mod it for ya
Couldn't you weld the holes or run a screw into the hole if you want to go back? I hope so cuz I'm doing Joes mod the next oil change. I'm getting rid of the sonnax/tricumulator, it shifts to hard IMO.
I think the VB's are aluminum so you'd have to heli-arch the holes if you wanted to reverse it. Bottom line is that if your gonna do it I would suggest you get another VB and mod that one incase you botch it by accident. Cover all your bases before you dive in.

hey, a fan! awesome, ok try to keep this short and simple, i dont mod the valve body i mod the accumulator body. the bts valve body i cant tell you exactly what it does. brians stuff is kept secret even from the magizines. i can tell you that most replacement valve bodies have bigger passeges and stiffer springs to raise pressure, they are the most effective way to promote trans life, if you are pulling the tranny out, then i would put a valve body in. if you are just looking for a better shift and have a tranny in good order then i would use my mod, it changes no characteristics internal to the trans, it just gives the shift fluid a faster way to move through the body and apply the clutches, its far cheaper the a valve body replacement as all you need is a 1\16 drill bit( the first size in almost every drill index) and 8 qts of fluid. in theory cuda, it is reversible but you would need to tig it and get the passage perfectly flush otherwise you would limit the flow past the pistons, i would really call it a permanent mod unless you replace the accumulator.
as for the replacement plate that comes with the bts valve body it is probably just a new seperator plate with larger holes and perhaps a restrictor in one place.
oh and dont worry about getting a second body for a back-up, you really cant screw it up, it may be aluminum but you wont just punch a hole by accident, light constant pressure using a sharp bit works every time

OK, just for clarificatio...it's not the valve body that that the holes are drill in it's the "ACCUMULATOR" body. So if I wanted to scrounge up an additional part to drill and have ready for installation I would be getting an Accumlator body. Right?
