i`m preparing for doing a lot of upgrades to my 66f100.(powersteering,powerdisc brakes, lighting).you guys have been a great help with the input of knowledge, experience and advice.thank you ALL!
But to the ?. i have a 352 3on the tree in my truck,i was planning to rebuild it and put it back original,i have aquiured a 390 (so i was told) 4 speed in a 67 truck.the tranny does not appear to be factory in the67 judging from the 3on the tree colunm an the bucthering in the floorbored for the shifter hole,i believe it is a truck tranny. My question is since i'm going to do a rebuiled would the 390 be better than the 352? would the 4 speed be better than the 3? (power, drivability fuel economy)priorities in that order. and how can i be shure it is a 390??. am i better off to put it back original? this is going to be a nice truck when im done so i want to do it right.its more than a trash hauler.thanks again for any advice.
Blackhawk, I would run the 390 and the 4 spd if it were me. It can be made to look just like it came that way. And the extra power the bigger engine gives is nice, as is the extra gear in the tranny. DF
Measure the stroke on the 'new' engine. If it's a 390 it should be 3.78. I would go with the 390 and 4spd. But I gues I'm prejudiced cause that's what I GOT!:-)
I think you should install the 390 for sure. The transmission is something you will have to decide on. The three speed on the column is what you have in the truck today, are you happy with that? The four speed will get you a granny gear for heavy pulling but the fourth speed is one to one like the three speed. For originality put in the 390 (no one will ever know) and leave the three speed.

I'm going with the 390 & 4 speed. i think it will make a better truck.I've got to change the steering colum when i convert it to power steering anyway.I like the extra cid. with the 390 & the extra gear, Thanks for your input. FORDS FOREVER!!!
