i got a 87 BII,im afraid the motor is locked up,tried push starting it(its a standard) and it would just lock up the wheels, i tried 1st 2nd and 3rd gear just kept locking them up, i would like to know what all motors could i put in it, i want to keep it fuel injected, its got the 5 speed tranny, could i swap in a 3.0, how hard wopuld this be, if anyone could tell me what motors bolt up to this tranny,i would appreciate it
Put a breaker bar on the crank and see if it will turn. It should take that much pressure to turn the engine. From there pull your plugs, see if you can find damage then try turning it again. From there I would pull the valve covers, look for damage. If it is a grenaded engine you will need to swap it. The 2.9L was the only factory engine. You can do a 3.0 if you wish but you will need to change the transmission as well, it is a different bolt pattern. The 4.0L will bolt in but if you are rough on the gas is will easy your mitzu transmission.
> it makes a loud click, tried turning it, wont budge
Disconnect both battery cables, remove the starter, vehicle in N with the parking brake on and a wheel chocked front and back, then try turning the crank with at least a 24" x 1/2" breaker bar or ratchet.
