New guy on the forums

Hola! Obviously, i'm new, and although I dont own exactly own any Ford trucks, i DO like 'em. BUT, I am building a 466ci V8 for my Fox mustang, and thats why i'm here. You guys know whats up, and I was hoping oyhu could help me build this beast.

I have the 1985 GT, i have a 2004 40th anni. mustang, and a 1962 Ford Econoline five-window truck. The block i'm using for my fox is a D3VE(1973) with roughly 45,000 miles on it(good find), stock crank, possibly stock connecting rods, and i just need some help. So I'm looking forward to seeing you guys on the forums!

Welcome Cliff!
You can do a serch for topics or just ask questons.
How far along are you on your bild? What heads do you have? You will want to do some work on the exaust ports and some cleanup work to them.

Right now the block is getting finished. All that they have left to do is go ".030 overbore and balance the rotating assembly, which is one thing i need help on BAD. what diameter of piston should i get? I cant find bore specs on the stock block to save my life. Some flat-top pistons though, looking for something in the area of 10.0:1 compression with an aluminium head, probably some Edelbrock heads.

So i need that number, then the machine shop can balance my block, and i'll be done with that right there =)

Other than that, it's completely gutted right now. The 5.0L/AOD are out and going into a different Ford, so next i need to work on a rear end. Cant decide on that though. I'll have some pics up tonight.

I think the best way to fit pistons is have the pistons in hand and bore the block to fit the pistons. The manufactuer will tell you what clearence you need to run.
Get all your parts together then have it all balanced.

dont know your budget, but a stroker kit isnt much more money than properly redone stock and its a whole lot more power. stock is 4.36 so youll be after 4.39 pistons. you can get a 521 stroker kit for about 1000 dollars.

It's a budget build, which is the reason why I'm building a 466 and not a 557 lol

Anywho, I've been looking at different pistons, and i found some Keith Blacks I'd like to buy. I just dont know what kind of compression these pistons:

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=UEM%2DKB206030%2D8&autoview=sk u

Would make with this cylinder head:

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=EDL%2D60669&N=700 +4294925232+4294838998+400065+4294908331+429484012 3+115&autoview=sku

If they will work together on pump gas, thats great. I'm not looking for anything overf 10.5:1 compression ratio

Thanks a ton for the help guys

those pistons with those heads = 8.8-1 compression. youd need either the flat top pistons or the 75cc heads. flat top pistons with 95cc heads gives you about 9.7-1. 15cc dish (the pistons you looked up) with 75cc heads gives you about 10.3-1

So the KB pistons i chose will work with a 75cc head? Will that be too much compression for an aluminum head on pump gas? Or would it be a better idea to run under 10.0:1 compression with the 95cc heads?
