Need Help with Engine Identification

Hello all,
Ive been reading lots and learning even more from this forum. I picked up our 1954 Ford F100 about a year ago and have been slowly working on making it safer (new brakes, 4-link, ect). Well now its time to start working on the engine. The seller said it was a engine out of a Fox body Mustang. I have looked around I am having a hard time IDing it. I was wondering if anyone on here recognizes it? I'm ready to get it running better and I was also needing help in identifying this rats nest of wiring running from the solenoid. There is one small box that is tied directly to the positive side of the solenoid that doesn't go anywhere??

Any help in some identifying would be greatly appreciated!

Semper Fi,
Kris

Looks like a 5.0, carbed and Duraspark puts it in the early 80s unless its been converted.
The little box is a circuit breaker, sorta redundant with a fuse link hooked to it.

Looks like somewhere along the line it was converted to 12 volts and had points and condenser as evident by the ballast resistor.

So the Duraspark is the ignition box on the fender? I'm looking to clean all this mess up and get it running better. If the Duraspark is from the 80s I assume the distrubutor would come up under a Mustang from that era? Trying to get new cap, rotor, plugs, ect.

Ballast resistor is that useless thing on the firewall? Guess that's going away. Thanks!

Should be the same for any 5.0 of that era.
