I have a 2004 F-150 crew cab and need to remove driver side door panel to be able to replace my mirror (its power, heated mirror). Is there a trick to this or do I need a special tool? I would ask the clown who clipped me and shattered my mirror, but he drove off! - Maybe if he comes back to pick up the pieces of his mirror I can ask him.
There is no special tool but you will need a little patience...look for door panel removal in the search engine in this forum and you will find some good stuff, good luck
there are only about 4 screws to remove. but you also need to pull off the grill from your speaker and remove it and the speaker. there is a lil tab behind the handle with 2 screws. then just pull the panel to you and then pull up. just be careful with the handle you have to snake it throught the hole.
Good stuff - sounds like something I can do without fouling up my door, as long as I take my time. I appreciate all the good postings, comments and diagram. This is a good forum, nice to have a collection of experts who try and service their own stuff instead of submitting to the commercial venues that often are just training grounds for others.
NASSTY - You're the MAN!
I followed your steps, one by one and had it off, my new mirror mounted and the panel back on all in less than an hour (and with no rattles when I drive!)
I greatly appreciate your post! - When my truck is whole, all is right with my world again! Thanks!
Once you remove the speaker there are two white plastic anchors that are about an inch long. Pull these out as they get in the way of lifting the panel up.
