Wheel Storage question

Living in the northeast does not allow me to keep my chrome wheels and directional tires on for the winter. My question is: What is the best way to store these wheels so they dont rust. I really dont have the option to store them in a climate controlled area. Its the garage of cellar. Both damp. Is there something that I can coat them with? Any suggestion woud help.

I have a friend that lives in Wis. that had similar concerns with his pricey aftermarket F250 wheels. So he's starting to throw a generous coat of wax on the rims and then found a military electronic transport box that could each hold 2 of his wheels (paid about 30? bux ea. for the boxes). With the boxes being mil spec for electronics also mean they are water tight... Then he threw a pail of damprid in each. **he buffs/washes the rims down @season change.**

Fwiw: He's only had one season so far to test this with- which are stored in the moisture rich "basement".

On Edit: I'm sure the wax would be sufficient by itself...(only for the season)

Arzoo, Just give the wheels a good coat of wax and stack them up in the cellar. If the tires have raised white letters, put a piece of clear plastic between the tires other wise the black from the sidewall will transfer onto the white letters when they are stacked ontop of each other.
I do this to my Corvette wheels every winter...
