Pushrod not oiling

The 300 in my F-150 has a pushrod that doesn't oil. With the valvecover off the engine and it idling there is plenty of oil up top, but one rocker/pushrod that won't oil itself. I'm thinking this may be a bad lifter. But i figured i'd ask here first, as this might explain the rattling noise i've had in this engine since i rebuilt it.

I certainly hope i didn't wipe the cam...or cause any other nefarious damage to the engine.

I would remove the pushrod and look or blow thru it. It may just be stopped up. If not then look further. As for the cam being wiped watch that valve while turning the motor over (by hand or at cranking speed only)and visually compare its lift to the others. If it is badly wiped it will be obvious.

I've had that pushrod out before when i had noticed the same thing. I've ran a wire coat hanger through it, and used an air compressor to blow through it. And it always does this. It always has "some" oil in it, but not nearly enough, and you can tell it isn't oiling properly by watching the rockers with the valve cover off.

When i get back into town next week i'll give it a look over, as i've got a lot to do to it when i get back. Thankfully shes been parked the past two months.

Pushrod 101: So the oil pump delivers oil to the cam, each lifter gets plenty of oil, and sends it up the pushrod? If so, either the lifter is starved or plugged?

To be honest i wouldn't know if any of the lifters were plugged. This is a brand new set i installed when i rebuilt the engine onto the stock cam. I'm trying to recall what brand they were...i do know i remember buying em at O'reillys. I'm just not sure what there house brand would be. I may end up having to pull all of the lifters out and inspect em. Along w/ my pushrods.

I'm just hoping its nothing too serious...

Either way just because the lifters are new does not mean that each one was made properly. If you have to replace that lifter. If not the rocker, pushrod and valve tip will suffer.
