I have a chance to buy this awesome aluminum intake off of a guy. It is currently on a 390 in a truck. It is a high rise intake and says Shelby on it. Does anybody know what this thing is and what it is worth? Also it has a set of the old short cast iron headers on it too. Thanks for the help. I haven't got the numbers off the heads yet, but I as wondering if they and the intake are high rise or tunnel ports but I am not sure. THe exhaust ports have ribs on the top of them that my 352 heads don't. Any help in the speculation would be appriciated. THanks
Is it a single or dual plane intake. I want to say that they are copies of the edelbrock intakes. His single plane looks identical to the Victor with the exception that carrol claims a 3000 - 8500 rpm range instead of a 4500 - 8500 like the ebrock. If he is wanting a lot of money for it you are probably just paying for a name.
I guessing the intake is an Edelbrock with Shelby's name on it....I think Shelby sold Edelbrock F427 manifolds with his name on them in the mid 60s...if thats what it is, an F427 manifold is usually good for 300$ or so....and the headers- some of the concours restoration guys like those cast iron shorties for galaxies, maybe look on Ebay and see what are they selling for. New news. I looked for some casting numbers off the Shelby intake and found none. But I did find some numbers off the head. I think I have narrowed it down to two possibilities. I think they are either medium riser or high riser 427 heads. Here's what I can read of the number. I can read everything but the suffix which tells the revision. Here goes...C4AE-6090-?. THe "?" looks like a backwards D to me so I am not sure what it is supposed to be. Now, If I am correct this can't be a 390 block these heads are on if these are really 427 heads since the bore size is way to different even if the 390 block has notched cylinder walls. What do you guys think. I know it is not an HP block because there are no ribs on the side of the block and it does have the common 352 stamp on the front of the block under the drivers side head. Where are the casting numbers on the block located at. This is very intriging and thanks alot to all of you for the help.
I would agree with Barry on the heads. The intake seems to nothing special, unless you are a big Carroll Shelby fan. If he wants as much as was mentioned earlier then I would lean toward the Blue Thunder or RPM intake.
C4AE heads (whether G or not) are basic 64-65 352-390 heads.
Medium Riser heads are C5AE-6090F, Tunnel Port are C70E or C8AX. High Rise are C4AE-6090-F but again, Shelby never made a manifold for HR heads and no the only 427 heads not requiring a 427 block (do to bore/valve size) are the C3AE-6090-D,G,H,J
how do those cast iron shorty headers fit on that truck? i have a pair and am considering installing them on a 72 f100sb. what year of truck are they on? is clearance an issue? thanks. jim
