well thats always a good question when that happens. sometimes you can beat a larger allen in. if that doesnt work you might have to drill a hole in the bolt and use an "ez-out" tool to get it out. you can pick them up at any autoparts store. the trick is getting the hole drilled in the bolt. good luck if your liek me i get real mad at it real fast.

Try welding a hex nut to the bolt....the heat will also help.....
I replaced one of mine just a month ago and it was definately Torx....matter of fact had a hell of a time getting a socket/ratchet in there (it was the top one). I pulled the fan cowling bolts and moved the cowling up a few inches to allow getting in to the bolt. It was a 45 maybe?? I know for sure it was Torx.
yes im sorry its a torx not an alan. and i was useing a torx when trying to remove. and i was using a standley torx bit set and i just have to ask how is standlys tools. i like them but not there torx bits.
well ne ways i couldnt get to my truck. i have been working on my buddys chevy that has no power to motor but everywhere else. maybe tonight i can get to it.
i think i will try to weld a nut on the end of it and see how that works.
