on winter I turn the heat on but takes so long to have some hot heat!! I have to drive to warm up, freezing un'll there!!

I wouldn't think it was the blend door. That shouldn't cause the temperature change over time.
I've changed the thermostat on the 4.0 engine but not the 3.0. It's not too hard. If it's not been changed in a while I'd go ahead and do it. They are not expensive.
