I have looked every where for a ford or other locally available part number for the right thermostat for a 78 400. Can someone come up with it or an application that is known to have the right thermostat?

so there is no way of getting the right part from napa or car quest??? I know I saw a correct ford part number a long time ago but can not find it anymore. If I remember correctly it was a cleveland application but I don't know.

 

I'm in the same boat Nigel. It's hard to believe that the only place I can get a correct T-Stat for my truck is online (and at a pretty shady website at that). Is the correct one available at a dealership?

 

A ford dealer will sell what they say is the correct thermostat, but it does not close off the internal bypass on the 400 engine.

Another bet might be to find a distributor that sells a Mr Gasket thermostat which also has a correct application for the 400. I got mine from flowkooler, part #333-192, and I had no problems with the ordering or delivery. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard also sells them.
