400 differences between years
i'm sure i could find the answer if i searched, but i'm already late. anyway i need a crank for a 78 400 and i found a guy who will gve me a running 400 from a 86 cheap. want to know if the cranks are interchangable. the 78 block is already machined and ready to go. i just have a 351m crank and would like to make it a 400. thanks in advance for replies.

Bubba says that there were no 335 motors made after 1982. The 400 in the 1986 is something else, or someone replaced another motor with it.
The short answer is that all 400 cranks are interchangeable.
