I have an opportunity to buy a 2001 7.3 XL super cab that is in emmaculant condition with on 56,000 miles on it. The price is $20,000, is this in line with a one owner, adult driven, excellent truck?
May be a bit high. It is an XL trim? Not XLT or Lariat? Is it a 4x4? It is also not a crew cab. I would do a KBB on it and check what it goes for in your area.
I don't care if it's showroom new perfect, $20,000 is way high for an almost seven year old XL. I wouldn't offer more than $15,500 if it's a 4x2....maybe $17,000 if it's a 4x4, and then only if it was dead on perfect.
That is only my opinion and you of course are free to spend your money any way you see fit. If it's worth 20 large to you, then it's worth it. Makes no difference what the rest of us think.
I spent most of 3 years on those east roads as well as up by you, no rust. Now that im home the paint is peeling off the rocker panels and I seem to get more damage. Go figure.
Best place to buy any vehicle is from someone who bought it in S. Idaho and kept it there. The weather there simply preserves things. You don't hardly have to paint your houses.
I've worked on ID cars occationally and the underside of them only have a very light coating of dust, otherwise they look brand new. Very impressive on how long things last there.
