I need some help with my truck, when driving I slowly start to get into it and it will start to spool and sounds good, but then when i really put it down it starts crackeling really bad. Its not cutting out just crackeling and seem to be down on power. I was thinking it may be pulling air from the tank under load or something W/ the fuel!!! can some one point me in the right direction???
The truck has a bully dog power pup programmer, 5" exhaust, 6637 filter, BTS valve body. The reason I think it may not be getting enough fuel is it does not smoke hardly at all!!! any help would be great!
Clean the tube from your exhaust manifold to the back pressure sensor. What happens is a hole is rubbed through the tube, then soot and exhaust is allowed to go out the hole until its completely blocked and the engine cannot sense any back pressure. Try that first, it fixed mine alot so the computer was getting the correct info.
I have talked to the tech folks at Bully Dog, just so you know, they only adjust injector timing for their HP increase. They do not add more fuel, or fool the map. Thats why you do not get much smoke. Add a 10K mod or an adjustable 18K mod and you will get the smoke you are looking for.
As for your symptoms it sounds like you need to do the hutch mod, and either the cackle cure kit(cross connect kit) from DFA, or a regulated return from any of the fine sponsors here. the hutch will help to get rid of your cackle, and can be enhanced by the addition of one of the other kits.
I was planning on doing the hutch mod and maybe a regulated return. what exactly does the 10k mod do??
It raises the injection pressure of your fuel. it will give you a little higher idle, and the go pedal will be more touchy.
