I have been looking on this site with the seach tool and really have not found an answer to this question. This guy has an engine with the code d4te-1 on it. In a 67 f250 camper special truck he told me he thinks its the original engine. To me and with some of the research it looks like it could be a 391 I do not have the engine with me to look at any of it to verify. Is it original? Because if it is its a 390 but if not wouid I be better off trying to get a 390 to make a performance engine out of instead of this possible 391?
It can't be the original motor if it's got ANY part numbers with D4TE on it ...
Some of the casting numbers are the same across FT and FE lines... not many, but some - I'd suspect a block could easily be either/or.
Look at the exhaust manifolds - is there a crossover in the CENTER of the exhaust manifold? Is the timing cover cast-iron or aluminum? Where are the motor mounts?
