No, no neutral on the transfer case. Unless you have the stick on the floor, which I don't think is possible with the X
You'll have to disconnect the rear driveshaft. Not too hard, but the bolts are pretty tiny and the heads strip easily. Get an extra set of bolts "just in case".
Sort of what I thought. I love my 05 Ex with the 6.0 and plan on keeping it till the wheels fall off. I only have 12 K on it. Changed the oil on it twice so far. The dealer charges $59 for the lube, oil and filter with a coupon.
This is my 2nd Ex. My first was an 02 2WD with the 5.4 gas. My 05 EB has more stuff than my 02 Limited.

If the there is no rear pump in the transmission (there isn't) you run the risk of transmission damage by continuously turning the drive shaft by towing the Ex any distance, not to mention the tx case.
The 49 caddilac had front and rear pump you could actually push start the car because the rear pump would turn the tranny and engine to allow the engine to start. If I remember correct dual Hydromatics were used in the Sherman tank,, tough tranny's.
But the Ex.. na,, no rear pump,, can't use it in a tank either. Jim
