Finally got a boost gauge, do these readings sound ok?

The highest boost I could get was 17-18psi, it dropped to about 15psi during shifts. There is no flutter in the gauge so the install appears to have gone good. I went with the T in the MAP line. EGTs were at about 900, but I use to get about 1000 to 1100 when running dino diesel.

Not sure what spec's my diablo sport chip has, but things appear to be mildly above stock?? Should I start with a leak inspection? Or pull my Diablo and call them to get some details?

Ed,

check waste gate adjustment, if you have alot of miles the spring inside the actuator can get weak.

That's about right for a stock setup. May be a bit low for a chipped truck.

Just checked the waste gate and the spring is real strong, seems to be closing up good. It is almost hard to open manually. I also put a couple turns on my top 4 boots just in case. Went out for another test run and it peaked right at 18psi at about 75mph or so when mashing on it. For 1st and 2nd gears, it did not get over 16psi.

I tried to time myself for a 0-60 time and it was about 10.2 seconds averaged over a couple runs. It is pretty slow from 0-10 but catches up quickly. Still, I would expect to be in the 9sec range.

my truck was reading 25lbs with my old gauge then switched to the commander and now reads 16-18lbs.

I hope it is not a gauge issue, it is a new ISSPRO from Diesel Manor to match my pyro gauge. Thanks for the feedback though, that is always a possibility. The truck is running strong, I am just surprised the boost is not higher.

Is your waste gate disabled? via the red plastic tube removed? If not, try removing the red tube and caping it (the red tube) and see if that takes care of low boost levels. You can leave it that way or placing it back to original.

Unhook red line, plug it on one of the bootclamps, and see if boost increases. If so then your spring is weak, the red line actually provides about a 6-9psi puff of air against the diaphragm inside the little gold WG actuator to help collapse the spring. If boost does not increase with red line off the WG spring can be helped by a small pack of double hook carburator return springs, on hooked to where the rod connects to the WG, and the other end hooked over the mickey mouse ears that hold the WG actuator on.

By the way a new actuator(stock) is about $300. (absolutley outrageous, for what it is)
