4.6 Swap?

4.6 Swap?
I know there are a lot of folks who swapped in a 5.0 V8 into the Rangers, but has anyone seen or done a 4.6 V8 swap into a newer Ranger? I used to own an 04 Explorer V8 and my dad has an 02 Ranger with the V6 and I always wondered.

I think the Ranger and Explorer do not share platforms anymore. I am sure the 4.6 modular V8 could be made to fit just like nearly any other motor. If one has enough fabricating skill and money anything is possible. I have not seen a 4.6 put into a current generation Ranger. However, I seem to vaguely to recall that a magazine did a story on someone who put a 4.6 into a second generation Ranger.

This is the engine bay of my '98 Ranger 2wd. The engine is a 4.6 DOHC from a Lincoln Mark VIII. It went in alot easier than I expected. I had to make motor mounts and headers, moved the steering shaft a little, and modified the HVAC box (lost AC). As you can see, everything else went right back where it belongs.

i though about a 5.0 in my 94, and never considered the 4.6 cuz it's too big, and it'll probably be too much work anyway, but you just proved me wrong.
