Exhaust Tip

I have 4in pipe from turbo to tail with a crome 4in tip. I'm thinking of changing over to a 5in tip just for the cool looks of it. I know there will be no peformance gain, but will there be a sound difference from a 4in to a 5in tip.

Thanks
Rich

I installed the stainless mbrp 4 in turbo back last spring. I also bought the polished 5 inch stainless tip. It goes on tight so i used a block of wood and a hammer to get it on up to the clamp. It looks real nice. I dont think it will change any of the sound because it is at the very end. But it sure adds the sparkle to the end of the pipe. and it doesent rust or anything its abot 50 bucks i think. jeff

Get the 4" to 6" SS tip from Diamond Eye Performance. Go big or go home right?

Some of the tips out there have some affect on the sound....I think its mainly the dual-walled tips that affect the sound.

A tip will usually deepen the tone a little...

I run a 4" to 6" MBRP tip in the summer, and swap to a piece of swelled 4" exhaust pipe for the winter, as the stuff they put on the roads in winter around here has started to rust my truck. There is a definite tone difference, both are unique, but it sounds the best with the 6"!!!

Haha, your trucks rusting out from the salt on the roads in WA? Man, you must be washin your truck with that salt solution as well, lol. Never seen a WA truck rust out from road salt in WA, now you got back east like NY and you'll se new '04 and '05's rusted through.

Dude, you have my attention. I am always curious how folks achieve big #s on these powerplants.

There seems to be 2 kinds of folks here, those that look and try to creep up on the big HP stuff, (me) and those that just BAM appear with all the goodies. I could never be one of those until after my divorce and the kid was done with college. I think I will remain a creeper.
