Just purchased MAGNAFLOW CATBACK SYSTEM, part #16518, and will be installing it myself at home on my '07 5.4 SCAB F150. Would appreciate any tips for putting it in. From what I have read so far, should be fairly easy. Thanks!
Well I dont know if you have installed it yet but I just put the same system on my 09 scab. I had a lift to use so that helped also I wanted to take the system off in one piece so that added some difficulty. I did mine by myself so it would help to have a helper. On the 09's there is one clamp that you need to loosen to seperate the pipes. I removed the three hangers and lowered the whole system a little. I had problems seperating the pipes until I realized you have to twist the exhaust counter clockwise about 45 degrees. The pipes are locked together by a tab and slot on the pipes. It would have been a lot easier to remove if I had cut the tail pipes off first. I used a hammer and board to drive the old system off being careful not to let the tail pipe hit the outside of the bed. The install went fine until I noticed there werent any clamps in the box. Make sure you check first. It sounds great and I'm very pleased with the Magnaflow system.
Just installed my Magnflow 16518 at 49,896 miles. I started it myself, soaked the bolts an hour before I started. Everything broke loose when I started and was very shocked. Had old system loose and moved in one piece in about 10 minutes. Then I was stuck and needed help the last 1/2". Got neighbor to help and he noticed a clip on one of the hanger brackets not allowing system to move. If I would have noticed that it would have been out myself. It did help to have him get system out of the way. Needed the pipe and clamp from the old system in front of the muffler. Other than that it went it real good. Sounds great, looks good. Brought it to work today and will re-check the bolts when I get home! It seems to have better throttle response. Not sure if that is what I am noticing or not, but when I left from a stop sign it seemed to get up and move without too much hesitation as previously noticed. Quiet at cruising speed, you can hear it at idle (low rumble) and notice it when you stand on it. I have not noticed anything annoying yet, but will note as miles get added.
So in conclusion... My tips would be to soak the bolts on the clamps 1 hour before removal with a good penetrating lube. Remember to look for the mini clip on the bracket about the muffler (otherwise you are not removing the exhaust system). Not that it is necessary, but get a helper to get the old system out of the way!
Thanks to all on the site who suggested and recommended the Magnaflow system. Very happy with it on day one.

Reason: added mileage note
