Powerstroke is better IMO. I see more Powerstrokes doing better overall up here with the work they do around here. Even offroad they do better. I may sound ignorant but i have seen what PSD does
Now that sounds better, you're giving your opinion and somewhat of a reason for that opinion. But to say that the Cummins is the worst engine is just plain silly...If I could have my way I'd have a Cummins in my Ford though...
my buddsies cummins in his dodge lasted about 350,000 while i know people in the 400,000 with there PSDs. It's not always about high numbers
You're just splitting hairs there...
I also personally know people with close to 900000 miles on there Cummins engines...the truck's fell apart around it more than once, but the engine is still running strong. I also know a guy with an older 7.3 idi that has a little over 750000 miles and it's pretty much all original (he's had little things go wrong, but nothing major) and he still does some hotshot runs with it...

Ya i can see that. i guess its based on personal expierene with the engines. nad yes we can agree that the Dmax blows
You think about it Cummins has got a few bad engines.
Their V-8 engines were never any good the L-10 Cummins wasn't that great the 444 Cummins was horrible the ISX Cummins isn't that good the ISC has problems the M-11 had electrical problems. The class 8 engines that Cummins had were the 855 block like the 350-400 small cam big cam and the N-14 Cummins.
Caterpillar has and will always be number 1 choice in class 8 trucks the 3406A wasn't the best but the B,C,E were all good the C model had some problems but nothing too bad. Caterpillar is number 1 choice for marine applications too.
The 5.9 Cummins is way over rated its not a good medium duty truck engine they barf their guts pretty quick. They were never designed for a medium duty truck. The only reason you see them in a medium duty truck is they are cheap engine option. If you went with a Cat 3126 it costs you a extra 2-3 grand more. Cummins engines are not cheap to fix in Canada a rebuilt V-44 Injection pump on the 24 valve engine is pushing 5 grand. A rebuilt inline pump is 3500-4000. You get the 24 valve engines with the bad fuel pumps there is 300-400 dollars a pump.
The 5.9 Cummins usually gets 200,000kms (125,000 miles) in a 5 ton truck and it needs work. The utility companys used to run old International trucks with 6.9 and 7.3 power and never had any problems with them. Usually have 300-400,000kms on the original engine.
The Cummins is a light duty engine just like the PSD and Duramax.
