Now that my truck is back on the road I need to take care off some issues.
My front left tire is showing signs of cupping, which I believe is due to worn out shocks. I'm considering Bilstein shocks, the B46-1237's & B46-1328's. Is this a good choice? <O My AC is blowing warm and the clutch on the compressor is short cycling. I have a manifold gauge set & Freon, but I don't know how to use them. Can someone direct me to some procedures on this or should I just buy a Haynes AC tech book
My cruise control doesn't work! <O</O
My back right window doesn't work!<O</O <O</O
I'm not sure if I should direct these questions to other forums or if they belong here. I don't want a guy who drives a Ranger or Escape giving me advise on shocks for an F350 dually.<O
For a quick check for your C/C, shift into reverse & see if your reverse lights work. If not the fuse under the hood is blown. This fuse also works the C/C. Also what kind of Freon do you have. Ours take R-134.
Cupped tires can be more than just worn-out shocks. Check all the steering components too, including ball joints. Bilsteins are a good choice however I've had cheap Monroe and expensive bilsteins and didn't notice a difference oin the ride quality. The more expensive shocks seemed to last longer though.
Your AC probably needs a little freon. The clutch is cycling is a good thing, it's not totally out of freon. Hook up the gages and get the readings. My AC reads 36 lbs on the low side and 175 lbs on the high side, 38* air coming out of the vents on an 80*+ day.
Check the BPA switch on the end of the Brake master cylinder. Unplug it and check for continuity across the pins on the switch. Look for brake fluid in it too. It is a normally closed switch, it opens with brake pressure then deactivates the CC when the brake is applied.
Does your volt meter in the dash discharge a bit when you push the button for the rear window? If so the motor may be OK but the scissor lift assy is worn out. I needed a new lift for mine and never found one. The teeth were damaged on the lift so I welded it up and filed new teeth into it.

i'm with cuda, 9 times out of 10 its the brake switch for a cruise problem on these trucks, shocks arent gonna be your problem here for the tires either, it the truck aint bouncin down the road they are ok, ft end components are most likely culprit, if just one is cupping odds are its a one sided concern but check it all out and get it aligned
as for the window, pop the door panel and try to roll it down while probing the motor with a test lite, easy diag
Cupping tire = either tie rod ortoe adjustment ,take top shock mount loose and try to compress it lots of resistance =ok,,window problem on my truck was broken wire in drivers door jam where all wires pass through to master switch. This is common on older vehicles.
A/C because compressor is running system is ok, just add 1 can freon R134,one can won't overcharge.
My back right window doesn't work!<O class=inlineimg title=\"Stick Out Tongue\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" src="http://images.ford-trucks.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif" <img /> Check the wiring that goes between the door and the pillar (all door not just the one that is not working) and look for broken wires. In my case, the ft pass window would not work and the wires were broke on the dr rear door.
Check the CC cancel switch on the bottom of the master cylinder....if there is any evidence that brake fluid is seeping through it then it is the cruise problem.
Also on the CC, check your brake lights & third brake light. I have seen some trucks where the CC did not work and one of the lights was burned out. Replaced the light bulb and CC worked. Just my .02.
